The black achievers in business and industry awards program began in 1971 in Harlem, New York; forty-four years later in Wilmington, Delaware eighteen Achievers were honored.

Enid Wallace-Simms of Delmarva Power and Chairperson, 2015 YMCA Black Achievers steering committee opened the evening festivities followed by remarks from businessman William Wilmore, III, Gov. Jack Markell, Hertbert Coe, Jr., and Miles J. Evans.

As the night wore on Black Achievers Alum & the newest inductees enjoyed networking over dinner. There were congratulations all around & many thanks.

Graduates of the BA program gave their thanks & spoke of their successes they attribute to being a Teen Achiever.

These teens also encouraged the Adult Achievers & current Teen Achievers to do the work.

Featured speaker Marc Lamont Hill, PH.D of FOX News, BET and CNN delivered a powerful message as those in attendance listen with intent and an open mind.

Dr. Hill spoke with passion & electricity stating “The ideal of success means nothing without helping others”.

Dr. Hill also challenged the entire audience to show love, make healthy choices & give second chances to all. Not some, but all.
