McRae clutch shot downs Erie BayHawks 113-110 in overtime

NEWARK, DE – December 27, 2015 – The Delaware 87ers stifled the Erie BayHawks 113-110 in overtime at the Bob Carpenter Center on Sunday afternoon.

Sean Kilpatrick led Delaware (10-8) with 37 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field and a six-of-eight from beyond the arc. Jordan McRae tallied 31 points while shooting 12-of-15 from the free throw line and adding seven assists. Gary Talton recorded nine points, five rebounds and dished eight assists, and forward John Bohannon grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with eight points.

Former 87er guard John Jordan led the Bayhawks (4-9) with 19 points off the bench, but missed three crucial free throws down the stretch. Nnanna Egwu scored 14 points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, while Jordan Sibert and Melvin Ejim each chipped in 17 points for the visitors.

McRae started off hot as he put up 11 points in the opening quarter, as the 87ers held a 25-24 advantage.

In the second quarter, Ty Greene came off the bench for Delaware to score seven points and add two steals, which helped the 87ers to a 59-45 halftime lead.

Kilpatrick’s didn’t miss a shot in the third quarter on his way to 10 points in the period, and 87ers led 84-71 going into the fourth.

Erie outscored Delaware 31-18 in the final quarter of regulation to force overtime, as the teams headed to the extra frame knotted at 102.

In overtime, Kilpatrick and McRae made a combined seven-of-eight free throws to seal the victory for the 87ers.

Delaware will face off against the Los Angeles D-Fenders in their first-ever home game against the team on Tuesday, December 29th – tip scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET. Erie’s next game will be at home against the Texas Legends on Monday, December 28th at 7 p.m. ET.
