Even With The Lost The Blue Coats Had An Incredible Year
The Delaware Blue Coats season ended last Thursday night when they lost to The Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The Vipers became the 2022 champions after they defeated the Delaware Blue Coats by 131-114 to conclude a two-game sweep.
This was Delaware’s second-straight appearance in the G League Finals but, in both years, they fell just shy of bringing home the gold.
The Blue Coats were outmanned yet showed a lot of heart throughout the game.
Delaware’s lack of size became a major disadvantage for them in this final game as they were out-rebounded 59-41 in the paint. Center Charles Bassey, forward Charlie Brown Jr., and guard Jaden Springer, all average over four boards a game and were unavailable for the Blue Coats that night. Also, Paul Reed who was last year’s G League MVP was unavailable and could have defiantly given the blue coats some much-needed help on the boards. (why were they unavailable)
Regardless of the loss, the Blue Coats had quite a successful season. Not only did they win the G League’s first-ever mid-season tournament, but they made another run for the title for the second-straight season.

No one knows what the future will look like for the Delaware Blue Coats. What players will be back, and who will be moving on? But the goal is likely to remain the same for the organization: get back to the G League Finals and capture a title.
The Blue Coats have built a great foundation in Delaware and when they get over that hump it will be a great day for the organization.
