Firefly Music Festival Won’t Return Until 2024
It looks like the Firefly Music Festival will be taking a year off in 2023. In 2020 the festival was cancelled because of COVID 19 this time the reason is unknown to everybody.
According to delawareonline.com it said, “A tweet announcing the cancellation teased a return to the area dubbed The Woodlands, which has hosted everyone from Paul McCartney and Tom Petty to Kendrick Lamar and Lizzo in its 11 events over the years.
“We’ll be cherishing these moments until we reunite,” read Thursday’s official tweet, posted alongside a video showing scenes from past festivals. “After 10 magical years of Firefly in The Woodlands, we’ve decided to take a year to recharge our lights. We will see you in 2024!”

“Dover Motor Speedway, which leases the property for the festival site, released a statement about the festival freeze.”
“Across 10 events and 11 years, the Firefly Music Festival has given the mid-Atlantic region countless musical memories. Dover Motor Speedway has been proud to co-host Firefly since its inception and we look forward to its return to the Woodlands in 2024,” it read. “While we look forward to Firefly’s return, we will continue to explore sports and entertainment opportunities to bring to our property for the community to enjoy ― such as the ‘Gift of Lights’ drive-thru event set for this holiday season.”
Some, including myself, fear that the festival could get moved completely to a new location that won’t be in Dover, Delaware. This years firefly was my first one that I’ve I even camped on the grounds for the full 4 days and it was a blast.
While I was at Firefly people did talk about the attendance being low and the time of the festival being a problem. There were still a lot of people at the festival. Maybe AEG are working on scheduling and trying to plan it out but as long as Firefly doesnt move it’s location then I am all for taking a year off and making it better.
