The Agenda: Black History Curriculum in Delaware Schools

Are our K-12 students receiving a holistic and diverse education?

Representative Sherry Dorsey Walker was the primary sponsor of House Bill 198, signed by Governor Carney in June, setting new guidelines for Delaware’s public and charter schools to implement Black History Curriculum starting in the 2022-2023 school year.

The aim of the Bill is to teach students a more inclusive history of this nation spreading beyond Social Studies courses.

We take a closer look at how these lessons will be applied to curriculum and why these changes need to be made.
