Some airlines and even rideshare services are lifting their mask mandate restrictions.
United, American, Southwest, Delta, Alaska and other airlines late Monday said they were dropping their face mask requirement effective immediately given a federal judge’s ruling in Florida.
According to a Delaware Online article, United Airlines released a statement and said, “Effective immediately, masks are no longer required at United on domestic flights, select international flights (dependent upon the arrival country’s mask requirements) or at U.S. airports.”
The statement continued “While this means that our employees are no longer required to wear a mask – and no longer have to enforce a mask requirement for most of the flying public – they will be able to wear masks if they choose to do so, as the CDC continues to strongly recommend wearing a mask on public transit,” the airline said in a statement. “We will continue to closely monitor the situation in the event of changes.”
American Airlines also released their statement. “Face masks will no longer be required for customers and employees at U.S. airports and on domestic flights.”
“Please note face masks may still be required based on local ordinances, or when traveling to/from certain international locations based on country requirements,” the airline said in a statement. “In keeping with our commitment to creating a welcoming environment for everyone who travels with us, customers and team members may choose to continue to wear masks at their own discretion.”

Many airlines have released similar statements to United & American.
Uber & Lyft released statements as well, NBCNews reported that Uber updated its policy early Tuesday, noting that the CDC still recommends wearing a mask if an individual has personal risk factors or if the person lives in areas with high transmission of Covid-19.
“Remember: many people still feel safer wearing a mask because of personal or family health situations, so please be respectful of their preferences,” the company said.

Lyft also updated its policy on Tuesday morning, saying, “wearing a mask is now optional for everyone in their cars.” “We know that everyone has different comfort levels, and anyone who wants to continue wearing a mask is encouraged to do so,” Lyft said.
“While riders and drivers can always cancel any ride they don’t wish to take, health safety reasons — like not wearing a mask — will no longer appear as cancellation options in the app.”
If you are masked or unmasked and traveling, just make sure you stay safe and healthy.
