DETV to air live panel discussion on Building Trust: Eliminating Disparities in Clinical Trials Thursday, May 13, 7-8:30 p.m.
The Franklin Institute and ChristianaCare’s Gene Editing Institute event discusses ethics and explores solutions to improve racial and ethnic diversity in clinical trials
What: Experts discuss the key issues on how to build trust to improve racial and ethnic diversity in clinical trials.New life-saving medical treatments and therapies are being developed for diseases from cancer to COVID-19. However, a major barrier to helping everyone is that clinical trials – the process by which these new treatments are tested to make sure they are safe and effective – do not involve everyone. Improving racial and ethnic diversity in clinical trials would help us discover better medicines for more people, yet there are many real challenges to doing so. How can we, as a community, work together to fix this moral, medical, and scientific problem?
