Happy Brothers Day To All The Brothers
By: Tye Richmond
People always say we have a Mother’s Day & Father’s Day but how come there isn’t no Sister’s or Brothers’ Day. Well, look no further because there actually is a Brother’s Day, and it is every year on May 24th for those of you who don’t know.
According to my favorite website, nationaldaycalendar.com it says, “Brother’s Day on May 24th honors the brothers in our lives. Whether we have one or many, they hold a special place in our hearts. Even for those who don’t have one, someone in their life is usually like a brother to them. Brothers from another mother are found in a best friend’s, brothers-in-law, or cousins. They are the men in our lives we count on even when we don’t talk very often. We share memories, and challenges that frequently began with the phrase, “Watch this!” soon followed by a few laughs.”
In honor of is being Brother’s Day, I want to celebrate a few of my favorite famous brothers in my lifetime.
The first are Peyton and Eli Manning. The Manning brothers are among the greatest sets of siblings in sports history. Their dad was NFL quarterback, Archie Manning. Peyton Manning was born in 1976 and won two Super Bowls. He played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos. Eli Manning was born in 1981 and spent his entire career with the New York Giants. Like his brother, Eli also won two Super Bowls.
The second set of brothers are The Jonas Brothers, yes, the Jonas Brothers. If you’re a pop music fan, you have likely heard of Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas. They formally formed their group, the Jonas Brothers, in 2005. At the time, Kevin was 17, Joe was 15, and Nick was 12 years old. Since their formation, the trio of brothers have toured the world, sold millions of albums, won multiple music awards, and appeared on film and television.
The last set of brothers that I want to recognize is close to home & that is Travis & Jason Kelce. Travis is obviously the more famous of this brother tandem since he is a lynchpin for the Kansas City Chiefs and the most productive tight end in the league. But Jason has had a good career for himself as a being one of the best centers in the NFL since being drafted in 2011. He currently plays for the Philadelphia Eagles. Just like the Manning brothers, the Kelce brothers have a great chance of making the Hall Of Fame together.
Happy Brother’s Day to all the Brothers out there.
