Inspiring Confidence with Children’s Healthcare Book Launch
WILMINGTON, Del. – Every good story has a hero, but what if the characters are based on real-life healthcare heroes? This past Wednesday, the Wilmington Public Library united families, healthcare advocates, and elected officials for a children’s healthcare book launch. The book, created by Westside Family Healthcare, is titled Captain Westside and the Health Heroes.
Healthcare Book Launch Event: Captain Westside and the Health Heroes
The children’s book unveiled in Wilmington tells the story of a superhero to appeal to younger audiences and send them on a path to good health. The character in Captain Westside is inspired by the previous longtime president and CEO of Westside Family Healthcare, Lolita Lopez. The project’s goal is to give children confidence in their health through teaching children on a level they can understand.
At the event, Lolita Lopez conducted a book reading and signed copies of the books for attendees. Governor John Carney and First Lady Tracey Quillen Carney showed their support by joining the kick-off event.
Currently, Captain Westside books are being gifted to children during their pediatric visits at the family healthcare facility. Westside hopes to distribute 6,000 copies of Captain Westside nationwide within the first year of its release. The book is available in both English and Spanish and will begin online sale soon. Westside Family Healthcare has now produced its first book, and it may not be the last. Inspiring healthcare confidence within youth is only just beginning with the story of Captain Westside.
