Local Delaware Tv Station Empowers Staff with Financial Empowerment Boot Camp

Wilmington, Delaware – Ivan Thomas, the Executive Director of DETV, understands the importance of financial literacy in black and brown communities and with young employees. That’s why he invited financial advisor Ambrose Carr to spend the day at DETV’s Market Street studio, teaching the staff about financial empowerment. He and his colleague, Emily Ziegler, conducted a Financial Wellness class called Wealth Steps. Carr and Ziegler stressed the significance of financial literacy, which they believe is essential for anyone seeking to achieve their short-term and long-term financial goals. He explained the concept of compound interest and how it can work in an individual’s favor if they start saving early.
The young staff at DETV were eager to learn from Ziegler and Carr, and their insights and expertise are nothing short of a Marvel character’s superpower, and they did not disappoint. Ziegler spoke about the importance of financial planning, budgeting, and saving for the future. While Carr also highlighted the common financial mistakes people make and how to avoid them. It was like watching a masterpiece of finance being translated from a spreadsheet to a masterclass.
Ivan Thomas, the founder of DETV, emphasized the importance of financial education in black and brown communities, stating, “Finance was never taught to us, and I feel that we have the responsibility to show the people close to us how money works.” By inviting Carr to teach the young staff at DETV, Thomas took a major step toward fulfilling that responsibility.
Carr’s Financial Wellness class was inspiring and empowering, leaving a lasting impression on the young staff at DETV. They now have the knowledge and tools to control their finances and achieve their long-term goals.
As Ambrose Carr said, “Financial empowerment is about taking control of your finances and making the most of what you have.” Thanks to his efforts and the vision of Ivan Thomas, the staff at DETV are now equipped to do just that.
