Breaking the Silence: Opening Up About Mental Health | Her Perspective Ep. 14
WILMINGTON, Del. — On this episode of Her Perspective, we share a critical conversation around mental health, with a strong focus on women during National Suicide Prevention Month.
Trigger Warning: This episode discusses sensitive topics such as mental health struggles and suicide. Viewer discretion is advised. For immediate help, please contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.
How can we create a space for women to talk openly about their mental well-being? How can we bring awareness to issues, including suicide awareness and prevention, for more women in our community? As we reflect on World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10th), this episode sheds light on the struggles many face. Host Katrese Thomas, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, conducted the conversation by asking meaningful questions and presenting information about mental health to the panel and audience. The featured guests include Rebecca Roebke, LCSW EMDR Therapist; Ra’Nada Lites, founder of Truly A Gem; Chelsea Stanley, Miss Delaware for America Strong; and Rev. Dr. A’Shellarien Addison, Army Chaplain. Together, they bring professional insight and personal stories to tackle stigma, raise awareness, and discuss the impact of cultural factors and social media on mental health.
We would like to extend a special thank you to our sponsor, the Delaware Health Equity Coalition, for their incredible support in restoring trust in healthcare and ensuring mental health resources are accessible to all.
