Phillies Advance To The NLDS

The Phillies will have a home playoff game for the first time in 10 years. The Fightin Phils have advanced to the NLDS by beating the St Louis Cardinals 2-0 on Saturday night.

The Phillies will continue their postseason march against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.

The series begins Tuesday in Atlanta, and the Phillies will see postseason play back in Philadelphia for the first time since 2011 for Game 3 of the best-of-5 series on Friday.

The teams played 19 times this season, including seven times in September. Overall, the Braves won 11 of the 19 games and went 5-2 in September.

After splitting the first 12 games, the Braves swept a three-game September series in Atlanta. The Phillies won the first two at Citizens Bank Park – including a 1-0 Suarez win over Fried and a dominating performance by Nola – before dropping the last two, which included a late blown lead in an 8-7, 11-inning loss.

It will be a tough series, both teams know each other very well and the Braves are the defending World Series Champions. But the Phillies have momentum on their side and in baseball sometimes it is not the best team, it is the hottest team that wins.
