2026 Fire & Ice Festival “In the First State” Rescheduled to February 6–8

Organizers of the 2026 Fire & Ice Festival “In the First State” have announced the festival has been rescheduled to February 6–8, 2026, citing the need for more favorable festival weather and improved travel conditions.

The decision was made in the interest of public safety in accordance with the January 28 Sussex County Weather Report and with approval from the Fire & Ice Board Committee, the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, and partnering towns and host locations.

About the Fire & Ice Festival

Delaware’s Fire & Ice Festival is a free, weekend-long, multi-town winter celebration hosted by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce and held throughout The Quiet Resorts™.

The festival features:

Intricately carved ice sculptures, designed around a new theme each year

Food trucks, fire pits, and warming stations

Live entertainment and performances

A wide range of family-friendly activities

The event draws visitors from across Delaware and the region and is free and open to the public.

“In the First State” Theme for 2026

The 2026 festival theme, “In the First State,” kicks off a year-long celebration of Delaware’s 250th anniversary, marking Delaware’s milestone as the First State. As an official Delaware 250 partner, the Fire & Ice Festival will highlight the state’s history, culture, and community pride.
