Delaware state police are investigating a pair of weekend homicides in Sussex County. Troopers arrived at a home in the 13-thousand block of South Old State Road in Ellendale around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, and found a 28-year-old man in the front yard with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say the man was in an argument with a woman who pulled a gun and shot him. She fled and no suspect description has yet been released. The state police homicide unit was called in to assist laurel police with a shooting at the little creek apartments around 1:30 Monday morning, June 3, 2024. Shots were fired into a crowd hitting two men, several cars and a building. A 23-year old man died of his wounds; a 26-year old man suffered non-life threatening injuries.
