Records Shops In Delaware For National Record Store Day

This Saturday is National Record Store Day. For people who don’t know National Record Store Day was founded in 2007 by a gathering of independent record store owners, the first National Record Store Day included Metallica meeting fans at Rasputin Music in San Francisco. Since then, the celebration has spread globally encompassing all genres of music and fandom.

On National Record Store Day, owners, employees, and music lovers gather in the place that created a culture all its own.

From vinyl to digital and back to vinyl again, these brick-and-mortar stores celebrate a love of not just the music, but the art of jacket covers, words, and style. Through a variety of events, record stores across the country and the world hold one-day events and promotions.

Since National Record Store Day is approaching, here are 3 local record shops in Delaware that you should check out.

The first one is Squeeze Box Records located at 1901 W. 11th Street (Warehouse) Wilmington, DE 19805.

The last record store which is probably my favorite that I frequent a lot and that you will probably see me there on Saturday is Rainbow Records.

“Rainbow has been serving the Newark, Delaware area for over 40 years! Locally owned and operated, Rainbow offers a wide range of vinyl records, CDs, and cassette tapes.”

There will be a wide range of releases on Saturday but the ones I am looking forward to the most are “Poison” Bell Div Devoe, “DS2” Future, and “Kauai” Childish Gambino. If are free on Saturday stop by one of these local shops and get a record or just hang out and talk music with some music lovers throughout the store.
