Joe Biden drops out of the election: The Agenda coverage
Host Kerwin Gaines delivered the news that President Biden, affectionately known as “Uncle Joe,” has decided to step down. In his announcement, President Biden endorsed current Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place as the Democratic candidate.
To further explore the depth of Biden’s decision, Gaines is joined by Kat Caudle, New Castle County Subdivision Chair of the Delaware Democratic Party. While Caudle expressed her confidence in Harris, she mentioned how the Delawarean Democrats are ready to shift their support. “I’m heartbroken,” Caudle admitted. “But if this is what he believes will win in November, then let’s do it.”
What this means for Delaware:
President Biden’s announcement hit particularly hard in Delaware due to his long years of service in the state. Considering this, Gaines and Caudle’s discussion moved to how the Democratic party decision will impact the Delaware local elections. “We’ve got candidates knocking on doors right now… doing everything they can to either maintain their seats or to win against Republican incumbents,” Caudle said. Despite President Biden’s absence at the top of the Democratic ticket this November, Caudle believes the local Democratic government will continue to do what it takes to ensure the continued success for the party.
Although sudden, the Democratic party and the rest of Americans are eager to see how the election will pan out. Citizens should anticipate the Democratic party strongly rallying behind Harris and who she decides to be her Vice Presidential candidate.
