DELAWARE DRIVERS RANK HIGH ON ROAD TEST FAILURES
If you’ve ever had doubts about the road skills of your fellow Delaware drivers, a recent report might provide some validation. According to data analyzed by USA Today, Delaware boasts one of the nation’s highest rates of driver’s test failures.
Between the years 20-20 and 20-23 – approximately 35% of individuals across the U.S. Failed either their written or skills-based driver’s examination. Notably, Delaware ranked fourth nationwide – with over 49% of participants failing their tests.
The study uncovered a trend where more individuals struggled with the written exam compared to the skills test. Indiana, missouri, and wyoming claimed the top three spots for highest failure rates – with delaware following closely behind.
Delaware’s department of motor vehicles attributes the rigorous 30-minute driving examination, encompassing maneuvers like parallel parking and lane changes, to its testing standards. The state’s high failure rates may also correlate with its sizable number of licensed drivers per capita, among the nation’s highest.
While delawareans may need to brush up on their road knowledge, resources such as sample exams are readily available online to aid in preparation. As the state endeavors to promote safer roads, these findings shed light on areas for improvement in driver education and testing protocols.
