The Nomad Is Back!!

The Nomad Bar is finally back. The Nomad reopened its doors a couple of weeks ago on Thursday, March 10. The Nomad, for those that might not know, is technically a jazz bar, but they host everything from Jazz, R&B, Soul to Rock, Ska, and Blues.

Before the March 10th reopening, the owners of Nomad Bar, Dave and Linda Vandever went through the same struggle that a lot of small businesses endured as the coronavirus swept through the country in March 2020. The bar was later boarded up after the violent protests that erupted in downtown Wilmington that summer.

The bar opened up with Wilmington soul favorite Darnell Miller and the Souldaires followed by Wilmington-born jazz man “Big Cat” Tony Smith and his band on Friday with Island Vibe rounding out the weekend on Saturday.” (what dates did these events happen, if last week add last before Saturday and Sunday, if not last week say which Saturday and Sunday)

According to the Delaware News Journal “Dave Vandever, who has owned the building since 1976, said he originally was preparing to open earlier this year, but the omicron spike delayed those plans.”

But now the bar is back open for business and looking like it once did two years ago before the pandemic.
