PGA Tour Is In Wilmington!!
The big day is finally upon us. Wilmington is about to be in the center of the golf world.
Two years of planning and preparations culminate this week with Wilmington Country Club hosting the BMW Championship.
The top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup points race come to Wilmington with only the top 30 qualifying for the season ending Tour Championship in Atlanta.
The event is estimated to bring more than $30 million to the Wilmington-area economy.
In a past interview Gov. John Carney said, “The expectations are an enormous amount of excitement, bringing in all the best players in the world here to our little state, to the city of Wilmington,” “It’s just going to be an exciting time to visit Delaware, and it will be an opportunity to showcase the great things about our state.”
As a life ling Delawarean and Wilmington native, this is huge for the city, and boost that it will give the city will be felt tremendously. Even though I don’t watch golf I do appreciate the sport and appreciate the PGA for choosing Wilmington to host their event.
