RICK DEADWYLER ELECTED BOARD CHAIR AT UNITED WAY OF DELAWARE
Wilmington, DE (July 12, 2021) — United Way of Delaware (UWDE) announced that Rick Deadwyler has been elected to a three-year term as Chair of its Board of Directors. Deadwyler succeeds John D’Agostino, who served as Board Chair for the period 2018-2021. In his role as Board Chair, Deadwyler will collaborate with other Board members and with UWDE’s senior leadership to set the organization’s strategic path, monitor progress toward UWDE’s long-term goals, and ensure the organization continues to advance its brand and agenda across Delaware and in Salem County, New Jersey.
Commenting on his role as Board Chair, Deadwyler said, “Taking on this leadership role with United Way of Delaware is truly a high honor. After serving in the Delaware community for over 30 years, I’ve witnessed the extraordinary impact of the United Way in our communities across the state and I look forward to this leadership role with this incredible team to help guide the organization’s continued engagement and impact.”

Despite COVID and other challenges, that journey continues today. I cannot think of a person more qualified than Rick Deadwyler to take on the enormous challenge of helping lead that journey. Rick is a respected leader whose years of corporate and community service in Delaware have prepared him well for this role. Deadwyler is U.S. East Region Government & Industry Affairs Leader at Wilmington-based Corteva Agriscience, where he leads strategic efforts to advance and promote public policy initiatives that support Corteva Agriscience, and develops and maintains relationships with key government, business and community leaders throughout the U.S. East Region. He also chairs the company’s “Corteva Grows” and other corporate affairs engagement efforts within the Greater Delaware Valley and Delmarva areas. Prior to joining Corteva, Deadwyler was Vice President, Community Engagement at the Delaware Community Foundation; Assistant Vice President for Government & Community Relations at the University of Delaware; Government Affairs Regional Manager at DuPont, and Director of Community Relations at the Delaware River and Bay Authority. He holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Delaware, and a Masters in Educational Leadership & Administration from Wilmington University.
