WILMINGTON, Del. – This episode of The Agenda features host Kerwin Gaines and returning guest Charlie Copeland. The Assassination Attempt

On July 13th, 2024, Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate Former President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump. While at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Crooks took shots from a nearby rooftop. Shortly after the first shot, the Secret Service snipers killed Crooks. The bullet stroked Trump’s ear, but he is left unharmed from any further damage. However, one rally attendee was killed, and two attendees were injured. The rally ended with Trump being escorted off the stage by the Secret Service.

Conversation with Copeland

Gaines and Copeland began their conversation by discussing their reactions and how the media covered the topic. Although a jarring incident, Copeland was reminded of the importance of legislative accountability and how the government needs to take measures for public safety. The two then debated how the attempt may affect Trump’s overall image with Kerwin expressing his concerns about the media labeling the situation as a “pity bump.”
The conversation moved toward the political election as a whole, including the current public perception of the two presidential candidates. ​​Copeland expressed optimism in the Republican Party’s ability to unify and create positive political discourse to better American citizens.
