Chadds Ford Farmstand Closes After Nearly 40 Years
A beloved farmstand in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is closing its doors after nearly four decades of serving the community. H.G. Haskell III, son of former Delaware Congressman and Wilmington Mayor Hal Haskell, announced Wednesday that he is retiring and has permanently closed SIW Vegetables.
The seasonal farmstand, renowned for its fresh produce and heirloom tomatoes, has been a staple in the community since 1986. Customers expressed sadness over the closure of the market, often referred to as “Haskell’s,” which also sold local eggs, honey, and homemade goods.
Haskell reflected on the challenges he faced over the years but emphasized his unwavering commitment to providing fresh food to the community. While the farmstand is closing, he is still considering the future of SIW’s events.
