Wilmington Fire Chief John Looney has announced the promotion of Andre Cooper to Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention and City Fire Marshal. Cooper, a 32-year veteran of the Wilmington Fire Department, most recently served as a Battalion Chief.
Cooper’s advancement prompted a series of additional leadership changes within the department. Captain Michael Khairzada has been promoted to Battalion Chief, Lieutenant Andrew Bowerson is now serving as Captain, and Senior Firefighter Michael Wiktorowicz Sr. has been promoted to Lieutenant.
These promotions reflect a continued effort to strengthen leadership within the Wilmington Fire Department and recognize the dedication and service of its members.
