EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TO BE TESTED FRIDAY MORNING

Sirens will blare Friday morning throughout Wilmington during a test of the emergency alert and notification system.

Thirteen sirens located throughout the city will be activated for three to five minutes at about 10:45 Friday morning.

The siren system is part of the city’s expanded emergency system that includes the subscription based smart 911 and a cell based notification system known as ipaws.
